Designed to stand out.
Rooted in sustainability.

Karkalla Handmade came about from a desire to create beautiful, unique clothing to fit everybody with a minimal environmental impact.

The name Karkalla embodies everything I hope that this label can be.

  • Beautiful and functional: the Australian coastal pigface or Karkalla is a wonderful native that is a ground cover, edible and produces wonderful ornamental flowers. Karkalla’s garments aim to be both functional and ornamental like its namesake. Unique and exclusive patterns team with functional features such as built in bras, zip access, multi size waistbands and concealed support to help make these garments everything you need

  • Resilient and perenial: Top quality fabrics and elastics extend the life of your garments. A base range of classic colours teamed with seasonal prints allows you to update your wardrobe without needing to replace everything.

  • Native: all garments are made by me in my home studio

  • Coastal: The Karkalla range aims to incorporate coastal themes and colour palettes as well as working in with a coastal lifestyle. My range of swimwear is designed to mix and match to work in with your beachside lifestyle.

  • Eco friendly: reducing fast fashion and textile waste by only producing what is needed in terms of both fabric and garment production. I get my fabrics printed in small batches to reduce end of season deadstock. Offcuts are made into small items such accessories and childrens clothing. All textile waste is recycled through Upparel.

  • Eco friendly: As my business grows I hope to source as many eco friendly textile options as possible.

    • Swim farbic: Solid colour swim fabric where possible is recycled vita, which is made of a ECONYL® regenerated Nylon from the Healthy Seas initiative. I am transitioning all printed swim fabric to recycled vita as I run through current stock.

    • Bamboo lycra: Organic and made from Bamboo pulp, creating a sustainable yet durable natural fabric that is 93% bio-degradable. I m gradually transitioning my bamboo lycra fabrics to bases such as Tencel and Ecovero

    • Solid cotton lycra: Organic Cotton is combined with a Recycled Elastane and is also 93% Bio-degradable

    • Sports performance: Solid colours are made using REPREVE®, an eco-friendly green fiber made from the recycling of discarded single use bottles that were destined for landfill. Constructed with sustainability, support, squat proof coverage and comfort in mind and also UPF 50+. The base for all my new sports prints is Carvico recycled vita fabric
